The panel takes the growing perceived and expressed split between economies in the north of Europe and the Southern, Central and Eastern European periphery in the Euro zone as point of departure to explore if this divide can be found in other fields of European politics and policy.
Conference participants address the potential of this current crisis threatening the cohesion of the European Union as a whole. They will further examine the strategies in the periphery and core countries and at supranational level to overcome divisions within the EU.
Through the involvement of stakeholders and policy-makers in the process of compiling the research the conference will create the foundation for the ambition to achieve impact value on the national and EU-level discussions amongst political elites to advise them on how to handle the deepening crisis in the Euro zone.
The event is funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, the prestigious British University Association of Contemporary European Studies (UACES) and the Department of Business and Economics of the Berlin School of Economics and Law.
