Unter dem Titel »Musste Reformation sein? - Erasmus von Rotterdam und seine Satire Julius exclusus e coelis« spricht die renommierte italienische Forscherin Silvana Seidel-Menchi von der Universität Pisa über humanistische Kirchenkritik vor der Reformation am Beispiel des satirischen Dialogs »Julius vor der verschlossenen Himmelstür« von Erasmus von Rotterdam, der vor 500 Jahren veröffentlicht wurde. Frau Seidel-Menchi ist Expertin für Humanismus und Reformation in Italien und hat zuletzt eine Neuedition des berühmten Textes von Erasmus vorgelegt. Der Vortrag findet als Kooperationsveranstaltung zwischen dem Leibniz-Institut für Europäische Geschichte und der Mainzer Martinus-Bibliothek statt.
