The Biomedical Engineering industry is characterized by technological intensity, competition and regulated markets. Due to the existing cost pressure of the national health care systems the Biomedical Engineering industry has to access new markets. In particular smaller and medium-sized Biomedical Engineering companies realize their R&D often by acquiring financial support of public funding programs and search for European partners mainly with a regional focus. In this respect, the three countries Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands are important partners for trade and cooperation. Entering new markets and initiating new partnerships requires knowledge of the research and business landscape in the neighboring country. In this context various questions arise. Which partners are able to place medical devices on the market? How can clinical trials be realized? What market frameworks exist in the neighboring country?
The German Society for Biomedical Engineering within VDE (DGBMT) addresses these topics in the event "Biomedical Engineering in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands: Technologies – Certification – Clinical Testing – Markets" and kindly invites you to Düsseldorf on 20th of March 2014.

Die Medizintechnikbranche ist durch Technologieintensität, Wettbewerb und regulierte Märkte gekennzeichnet. In den nationalen Gesundheitssystemen existiert ein erheblicher Kostendruck, der auch für die Medizintechnikbranche die Erschließung neuer Absatzmärkte erfordert. Außerdem treiben gerade kleinere und mittelständische Unternehmen der Medizintechnik ihre technischen Entwicklungen häufig mit der finanziellen Unterstützung öffentlicher Förderung voran und suchen für ihre Projekte europäische Partner mit einem regionalen Bezug. In dieser Hinsicht sind die drei Länder Deutschland, Belgien und die Niederlande wichtige Handels- und Kooperationspartner. Der Einstieg in neue Absatzmärkte und die Initiierung neuer Partnerschaften setzt Kenntnis über die Forschungs- und Unternehmenslandschaft im Nachbarland voraus. In diesem Zusammenhang stellen sich verschiedene Fragen. Mit welchen Partnern können Medizinprodukte in Verkehr gebracht werden? Wie können klinische Studien realisiert werden? Wie stellen sich die Marktrahmenbedingungen im Nachbarland dar?
Die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Biomedizinische Technik im VDE (DGBMT) greift diese Themen in der kostenfreien Veranstaltung „Medizintechnik in Deutschland, Belgien und Niederlande: Technologien – Zulassung – Klinische Prüfung – Märkte“ auf und lädt hierzu am 20. März 2014 nach Düsseldorf ein.
