Migration for development: The right way forward?

Lecture and Discussion with Michael Clemens, Center for Global Development, and Toman Omar Mahmoud, Kiel Institute for the World Economy.

International migration provides a great opportunity for families in developing countries to escape poverty. Incomes earned abroad are typically much higher than at home allowing migrants support those who stay behind through remittances. What happens to migrants and their families when the migrant moves abroad? What does it mean for development at large? Which policies can rich countries adopt to increase the development dividend of migration?
