Die Tagung findet seit 1986 erstmals wieder in Deutschland statt und es werden mehr als 200 internationale Wissenschaftler erwartet. Die ESCAMPIG-Konferenz umfasst nahezu das vollständige Spektrum plasmaphysikalischer Vorgänge in natürlichen und Laborplasmen. Die Tagung wird gemeinsam von Mitgliedern aus dem Institut für Physik der Universität Greifswald, dem Leibniz-Institut für Plasmaforschung und Technologie e.V und dem Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik organisiert.
