47th Annual Meeting of the Society for Invertebrate Pathology (SIP)

The Society of Invertebrate Pathology (SIP) was foundet 1967 as an interdisciplinary scientific society. The annual meetings take place all over the world (e.g. 2013 Pittsburgh, USA; 2012 Buenos Aires). 2014 the Julius Kühn Institute (JKI) has the pleasure to invite scientists all over the world to the medieval town Mainz (near Frankfurt) where the lectures will take place at the Johannes Gutenberg University which was founded in 1477.

The 2014 International Congress on Invertebrate Pathology and Microbial Control and 47th Annual Meeting of the Society for Invertebrate Pathology will begin with registration on Sunday afternoon, August 3rd, at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. A welcome mixer will be held on Sunday evening.

The scientific program will open on Monday morning with the Founders' Lecture and a Plenary Session. Symposia and contributed paper sessions will be held Monday through Thursday in simultaneous sessions. Contributed papers and posters on all topics related to invertebrate pathology are welcome.

The SIP Division business meetings are scheduled for the evenings of Monday and Wednesday. The Society´s business meeting will be held late Thursday morning.

Our Tuesday afternoon excursion will include a marvelous boat trip on the Rhine River passing the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE “Upper Middle Rhine Valley”. There we will see many old castles on prominent hilltops, historic towns and steep vineyards in a dramatic landscape. We will pass the famous Loreley and visit the old Castle “Rheinfels” in St. Goar where we will have our annual 5K race and a medieval barbecue in the evening. On Thursday evening we will have our banquet in a historic locomotive service hall.
