Die Konferenz findet seit 2006 im jährlichen Wechsel in den USA, Deutschland und Europa statt und in 2014 erstmalig in Deutschland unter der Leitung von Prof. Dr. Werner Damm (Universität Oldenburg und OFFIS Institut für Informatik, Oldenburg, acatech Mitglied) sowie Prof. Dr. Manfred Broy (TU München, acatech Mitglied) statt. Die Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften als Partnerin der CPSWeek hat Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) als Infrastruktur der Infrastrukturen in einem von Manfred Broy geleiteten Projekt eingehend untersucht. Anwendungsgebiete sind unter anderem die Industrie 4.0, Smart Grids und moderne Logistiklösungen.
