Die Energiewende ist weiterhin ein aktuelles Thema, in deren Kontext es bislang nicht ins Auge gefasste Optionen zu erschließen und zu nutzen gilt.
Im Zuge des Forschungsprojekts WIND-AREA entwickelten Prof. Dr. Martina Klärle und ihr Team eine auf 3D-Geodaten basierende automatisierte Potenzialanalyse speziell für Kleinwindanlagen, die bislang als unwirtschaftlich gelten. Mit dem Verfahren ist es möglich, Windströmungen und ihr Verhalten im Bereich von Hindernissen exakt zu modellieren und somit wirtschaftliche Standorte automatisiert zu selektieren.
Das Hessische Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst förderte das Projekt von 2012 bis 2013 mit 70.000 Euro aus dem Innovationsfonds Forschung (IFoFo).
