The two-day workshop will start at 1:45 pm on Monday, 5 May 2014, i.e. on the “Europe Day” that marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Council of Europe in 1949.
There will be presentations by Andreas Føllesdal (Oslo), Norbert Campagna (Luxembourg), Volker Gerhardt (Berlin), Robert Hanna (Boulder), Heiner Klemme (Mainz), Bernd Ludwig (Göttingen), Heinz-Gerd Schmitz (Cologne), Katja Stoppenbrink and Johan van der Walt (both Luxembourg). Talks and discussions will cover ‘classic’ writers such as Hobbes, the authors of the ‘Federalist Papers’, Kant and Rawls and range from anthropological justifications of federal orders to contemporary problems of EU constitutionalism, the principle of subsidiarity and the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
The workshop will be held in English and German. Everybody welcome.
