Since Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe took office in December 2012, promising to lead the country out of a decade long deflation, the markets have put trust on his politics. After almost 1 and a half year in office Mr. Abe faces increasing skepticism about whether he will be able to deliver the economic reforms he has been promising, and the consumption-tax hike in April 2014 is widely expected to dent growth at least during the second quarter of 2014. While Japan watchers fall back into their customary pessimism, it's worth giving Mr. Abe and Japan a second, closer look. There are signs of success that indicate long term positive effects on the economy.
How is the Japanese real estate market performing under Abenomics and what can we expect from here?
Herr Dr. Meyer zu Brickwedde lebt mit seiner Familie seit mehr als 20 Jahren durchgängig in Tokio. Im Anschluss an Bankausbildung und Studium der Rechtswissenschaften hat er seit 1993 in Japan gearbeitet und war dabei in verschiedenen Führungsfunktionen der japanischen Unternehmen der HypoVereinsbank-Gruppe tätig. Ab 1997 war er Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung in Tokio. Im Jahre 2000 stieg die Bank unter seiner Führung in das Immobilienfinanzierungsgeschäft in Japan ein.
Anfang 2004 wechselte er zur Hypo Real Estate, für die er als Präsident und CEO die japanische Tochtergesellschaft Hypo Real Estate Capital Japan Corporation aufbaute und führte. Die Hypo Real Estate avancierte zum führenden ausländischen Immobilienfinanzierer in Japan.
Im Mai 2008 verließ er die Hypo Real Estate und gründete Kenzo Capital Corporation als Geschäftsplattform für Immobilienanlageberatung und Asset-Management in Japan. Ziel der Gesellschaft ist es, mit seiner Berufserfahrung und seinem Know-how europäische Immobilien-Investoren beim Markteintritt in Japan zu unterstützen und die Investitionen dauerhaft zu begleiten. Seine langjährige Erfahrung in der Kommunikation und Verhandlung mit japanischen Geschäftspartnern helfen dabei, die Investment- und Risikostrategien der Investoren aus Europa zum Erfolg zu führen.
Die Teilnahme am Vortrag ist kostenfrei. Im Anschluss sind alle Gäste herzlich eingeladen, sich bei einem Glas Wein mit dem Referenten, Herrn Dr. Meyer zu Brickwedde, sowie Ihrem Gastgeber, Herrn Prof. Rottke, auszutauschen.
