Eine Konferenz zum Thema „The Life of Birds in Literature“ findet vom 23. bis 24. Mai 2014 an der Philosophischen Fakultät der Universität Siegen, Seminar für Anglistik, statt. Die Konferenz beschäftigt sich mit der Darstellung und Rolle von Vögeln in der englischsprachigen Literatur. Das Spektrum spannt sich von der Tier¬symbolik über den Vogel als Musenfigur in der Lyrik bis zur Thematisierung des Verlusts an Bio¬diversität, der sich im Aussterben bestimmter Vogel¬arten niederschlägt. Vertreten sind Experten aus den Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaften sowie der Ornithologie.
