Lipid and surfactant membranes are important building blocks for many applications of soft matter physics, and play an essential role for biological systems. A detailed understanding of protein, nanoparticle and virus interactions with membranes is important for a variety of processes – ranging from material transport within the cell and cellular uptake to viral infection and nanotoxicity.
The relevant mechanisms can only be understood by considering simultaneously the physicochemical properties of membrane, nano-particles, and proteins. Therefore, this workshop intends to bring together researchers that are interested in particles and proteins, as well as those interested in lipid membranes and surfactants.
This workshop is sponsored by the SoftComp network, but is open to anyone who wishes to take part. Contributed talks and posters will be selected on the basis of the abstracts submitted.

Deadline for registration with abstract submission for oral contributions and/or application for travel support
15 August 2014:
Deadline for registration, payment of the reduced fee and for booking childcare
30 September 2014:
Deadline for late registration and payment
(submission of abstracts for posters is still possible)
Participation Fee:
Reduced registration fee (payment before 15 August 2014): EUR 100
Registration fee (payment after 15 August 2014): EUR 150
The fee includes registration, coffee breaks, lunches, and the workshop dinner on 21 October 2014, and transport between Jülich town centre and Forschungszentrum Jülich.
SoftComp members are invited to participate in the workshop free of charge.
Master's and PhD students who present their work (and submit the abstract by 6 July 2014) may apply for financial support to cover travel costs. Students must submit a scan of their Student ID Card or a letter of confirmation from their institution as proof of their student status to pam-softcomp@fz-juelich.de until 6 July 2014.
