Heart failure is usually a chronic disease and an epidemiological relevant health problem, especially in the older population. Medical and device therapies of end-stage heart failure is meanwhile an established and rapidly growing topic. However, some general practitioners and cardiologists in practice are still struggling to refer heart failure patients timely to dedicated heart failure cardiologists, this in contrast to oncological patients who have similar impaired quality of life and prognosis.
Most of European countries offer ventricular assist device therapy as destination approach, which weakens the increasing severe shortage of cardiac allografts for transplantation. We will discuss questions, such as
– Which patients should be referred?
– At which time?
– Why are heart failure therapy algorithms seen in a different light, compared with PCI, ICD/CRTs,
MitraClip® implants or TAVI?
– Collaboration between specialties
– Does it make sense? Where are the limitations?
– Can we afford it?
Participation of three training symposia will allow to apply for an EUROMACS certification.
Who will profit from this Symposium?
– General practitioners
– Perfusionists
– Physicians (Internal Medicine)
– Nurses (especially nurses who are interested in heart failure)
– Cardiologists
– MTA’s (medical technical assistants)
– Cardiac Surgeons
– Health insurances

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
