Die gemeinsame Jahrestagung wird am Morgen des 17. September 2014 von den Präsidenten der DMV und der PTM im Audimax der Adam Mickiewicz-Universität feierlich eröffnet. Anschließend werden mehrere Preise verliehen. Die diesjährige Cantor-Medaille wird DMV-Präsident Kramer an Herbert Spohn, Professor für Angewandte Wahrscheinlichkeitstheorie an der Technischen Universität München, überreichen. Die Cantor-Medaille ist die bedeutendste Auszeichnung, die die DMV höchstens alle zwei Jahre vergibt. Die PTM verleiht zwei Nachwuchspreise, den Hugo Steinhaus-Preis für angewandte Mathematik und den Stefan Banach-Preis.
