Nadelgehölze, landläufig Coniferen genannt, sind hervorragend an boreale Lebensräume angepasst. Fichte, Kiefer, Lärche und andere sind uns als wichtige Forstbäume geläufig, liefern sie doch Holz für Möbel, Dachstühle und viele Dinge des Lebens mehr. Der Kindermund sammelt Tannenzapfen vom Waldboden, die es dort aber gar nicht gibt, denn die Zapfen der Tannen zerfallen bereits an den Ästen.
