Die iranische Archäologin will in ihrem Vortrag das Bild von Frauen im Iran korrigieren. Sowohl im Westen als auch im Iran selbst gebe es eine verkürzte Sicht auf das Frauenleben in dieser Region, sagt die Wissenschaftlerin, die im Wintersemester 2014/2015 die „Dahlem International Network Professorship for Gender Studies“ innehat. Dafür zeichnet Leila Papoli Yazdi den gesellschaftlichen und politischen Prozess nach, der nach der Entdeckung von Öl im Mittleren Osten zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts in Gang gekommen ist. Für ihren Vortrag mit dem Titel „My Body, A Female One, and Not Dressed in Black: An Iranian Archeologist Abroad“ nutzt sie auch Mittel der Performance.
