The core idea at the Berlin Institute of Health is to combine translational research with an overarching systems medicine approach to bridge the gap between basic research and clinical application. This holds true particularly in the area of cardiovascular disorders.
Identifying the underlying causes and processes of cardiovascular disorders is crucial in advancing an understanding of the human organism and in being able to develop new strategies for treatment. Jointly with Charité, MDC, DZHK and DHZB the BIH have succeeded in attracting four renowned experts in cardiovascular research and heart diseases to Berlin.
At the BIH Welcome Symposium the professors Holger Gerhardt, Ulf Landmesser, Burkert Pieske and Volkmar Falk will present their scientific and clinical expertise to foster translation and systems medicine at the BIH.
With their excellent translational and interdisciplinary approaches these prominent researchers and clinician scientists will play a central role in restructuring cardiovascular research and medicine in Berlin and therefore achieve advances for patients.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
