Turkey and Germany face major societal challenges due to ongoing demographic changes, affecting the burden of diseases and necessary health care structures to address these challenges. Institutions in both countries possess key knowledge to develop and contribute solutions.
This workshop brings together players from academics, economy, and politics to jointly define perspectives for innovative science, technology, and public health demands. A key focus is population based science in the cooperating academic institutions comprising the Balcova Heart Study at the Dokuz-Eylul University in Izmir and the Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP) in Greifswald. We aim to promote international collaborations between the participating institutions by bridging science, economy, and politics. Furthermore, it is our intention to improve the basis for interdisciplinary student and postgraduate exchange.
Talks will cover public health challenges in Turkey and Germany, population-based research activities from genotype to phenotype, approaches to large scale interdisciplinary research, innovative health technologies, networking institutions in the participating regions and their potential, opportunities for professional and student exchange.
