Zur Entwicklung eines katalytischen Prozesses ist ein komplexes System, das die Herstellung und Charakterisierung der Katalysatoren, die katalytische Reaktion mit Untersuchung der Reaktionsabläufe, theoretische Untersuchungen zur Arbeitsweise des Katalysators und die Reaktionstechnik beinhaltet. Katalytische Reaktionen kommen in verschiedensten Industriezweigen vor, etwa der Petro-, Fein-, Raffinerie- und Umweltchemie sowie verstärkt auch zur Nutzung nachwachsender Rohstoffe.
In dem Experimentalkurs am Leibniz-Institut für Katalyse in Rostock wird den Teilnehmern die angewandte Katalyse von der Katalysatorausprüfung bis zur katalytischen Reaktionstechnik in Theorie und Praxis nähergebracht. Ziel ist es, einen Einblick in ein möglichst breites Spektrum experimenteller Möglichkeiten zu bieten, die auch die Mikroreaktionstechnik sowie der Hochdurchsatztechnologien einschließen.
