Revolution and War: Ukraine and the Great Transformation of Modern Europe

One of the greatest tasks involved in writing the history of Ukraine today is to situate it in its transnational context. To this end, this high-calibre international conference, ‘Revolution and War: The Ukraine and the Great Transformation of Modern Europe’, aims to make an important contribution.

In the course of four section, participating historians will engage the history of Ukraine in the context of Europe’s transformations from the seventeenth to the twentieth century. The cornerstones for this examination will be the Thirty Years’ War (1618 to 1648), the First and the Second World Wars, and the development of Ukraine since 1989.
