The Volkswagen Foundation offers international experts from the natural and life sciences a platform for an intense and inspriring interdisciplinary exchange on the fascinating question "What is life?" during the two-day conference. The key elements of life are well described. However, it is still impossible to create life artificially or define in detail and scientific terms what life really is. Speakers from biochemistry, biophysics, molecular systems and scientific biology will give an insight to the most recent and interesting approaches of their field tackling the principles of life.
At the conference the foundation will also present the concept of the funding initiative "Life? - A fresh scientific approach to the basic principles of life" and will answer all questions of applicants. Like the initiative, the conference addresses researchers from the natural and life sciences.

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
