Sie wollen an unser Blut, schmarotzen in unserem Körper und machen uns dann eventuell auch noch krank: Parasiten. Aber das ist bei Weitem nicht alles. Parasiten und Parasitoide besitzen zum Teil hochkomplexe Lebenszyklen mit spezifischen Wirtswechseln und faszinierenden Erscheinungsformen. Sie stellen Regulatoren in Ökosystemen dar und werden teilweise zur Triebfeder der Evolution.
Der Senckenberg-Zoologe und Professor für Entomologie der Universität Halle Thomas Schmitt führt in seinem Vortrag anhand anschaulicher Beispiele in diese fremde Welt ein.
Der Vortrag ist Teil der Reihe „Vielfalt zählt! – Eine Expedition durch die Biodiversität“, die die aktuell im Senckenberg Naturmuseum in Frankfurt gezeigte DFG-Wanderausstellung „VIELFALT ZÄHLT!" (http://www.vielfalt-zaehlt.de/home/) begleitet.
