Introductory Workshop to the European Tertiary Register (ETER)

The European Tertiary Register (ETER) provides a census of HIgher Education Institutions in Europe, including basic information on organizational characteristics, educational and research activities, as well as staff and finances of HEI.
The aim of this workshop is to inform about ETER and its potential for the analysis of higher education systems.

We are inviting you to participate in a workshop dedicated to the European Tertiary Education Register (ETER), a facility funded by the European Commission (DG EAC) which provides a census of Higher Education Institutions in Europe, including basic information on organizational characteristics, educational and research activities, as well as staff and finances of HEIs. It covers most European Union countries, as well as a few non-EU countries (Iceland, Norway, Switzerland) and provides data for the year 2011. Experience show that these data are highly helpful for a range of topics in research policies and higher education, including analysis of efficiency of HEIs, studies of diversity of higher education systems and of differentiation processes, analyses of research specialization and internationalization of HEIs.
The aim of the workshop is to inform about ETER and its potential for the analysis of higher education systems.

ETER is part of the facilities which are recently set up in the context of the EU funded RISIS project (Research infrastructure for research and innovation policy studies, http://risis.eu). RISIS aims at building up a distributed infrastructure on data relevant for research and innovation dynamics and policies and making it accessible for a wider community.

The workshop will:
• Provide a general presentation of the ETER database and its methodological concepts.
• Provide guidance on the use of ETER and how to deal with comparability issues.
• Provide examples of exploitation of the database for research policy purposes.
• Provide practical training on the use of the ETER dataset.

Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
