Der Begriff ‚Stroke Unit‘ kommt aus dem Englischen und bedeutet ‚Schlaganfall-Spezialstation‘. Eine Stroke Unit ist demnach eine Abteilung, in der ausschließlich Patient*innen mit einem Schlaganfall behandelt werden. Das interdisziplinäre Behandlungsteam ist in der Schlaganfallbehandlung geschult und die Patient*innen werden rund um die Uhr überwacht.
In der AWL werden drei Referent*innen aus der Schweiz über aktuelle Entwicklungen und Behandlungsstandards zur Versorgung von Patient*innen in der akuten Phase nach einem Schlaganfall berichten: Cornelia Gasser ist Physiotherapeutin im Fachbereich Neurologie/Neurochirurgie am Kontonsspital Aarau. Anna Göbel ist die fachverantwortliche Physiotherapeutin im Bereich Neurologie am Kantonsspital Winterthur. Detlef Marks ist Abteilungsleiter der Physiotherapie der Rehaklinik Zihlschlacht.
Die drei Referent*innen verfügen über langjährige Erfahrung und hohe Expertise in der Neurorehabilitation und hier speziell in der Versorgung von Patient*innen mit einem Schlaganfall. Es besteht eine Forschungs- und Praxiskooperation zwischen den Referent*innen und dem Studienbereich Physiotherapie.
Die AWL richtet sich an alle interessierten Personen und ist kostenfrei.
