Relations between the Church of England and the Russian Orthodox Church during the Second World War

The lecture will concentrate on the relations between the Church of England and the Russian Orthodox Church during the Second World War. The Anglo-Soviet Alliance offered those churches a long-waited possibility to be in contact with each other. In her lecture Dr. Ketola tells especially about the roles played by the Church of England, the British Ministry of Information and Foreign Office.

Dr. Theol. Hanna-Maija Ketola made her doctoral studies (Church History) in the Faculty of Theology at the University of Helsinki. At the present, she works at the University of Helsinki as Senior Advisor in Research Affairs.

The lecture is part of Dr. Ketola's Mercator Fellowship at the Graduiertenkolleg »Die christlichen Kirchen vor der Herausforderung ›Europa‹« of the Johannes Gutenberg-University and the Leibniz Institute of European History in Mainz
