Zum 25. Jubiläum lädt das Institut am 8. September 2016 Persönlichkeiten aus Politik, Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft, aus Verbänden und Initiativen, Kultur und Medien sowie langjährige Partner des Wuppertal Instituts zu einem Festakt in der Historischen Stadthalle ein.
Zur Gestaltung des Programms zugesagt haben u. a.: Andreas Barner, Heinrich Bottermann, Jochen Flasbarth, Lambert T. Koch, Dirk Messner, Andreas Mucke, Johannes Remmel, Svenja Schulze, Leena Srivastava, Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker.
Neben dem Festakt mit internationaler Kulisse wird die Stadt Wuppertal im Mittelpunkt stehen. Unter dem Jubiläums-Motto: „Welcome to Wuppertal – Making Utopia possible“ zeigt das Institut zusammen mit Partnern das starke Transformationspotenzial der Stadt Wuppertal. Initiativen und Macher aus den verschiedensten Bereichen (Stadtentwicklung & Strukturwandel, Kunst & Kultur, Energiewende & Bürgerbeteiligung etc.) stellen am Nachmittag ihre Projekte und Initiativen den Jubiläumsgästen in dezentralen Veranstaltungen im Arrenberg-Quartier vor.
Der Tag endet mit einer großen Jubiläumsparty.
