Worldwide, plastic is an intensively discussed topic. More and more problems arising from littering and micro particles in the (sea) water call for sustainable solutions for the future. Bioplastics made from bio-based or biodegradable materials are promising although, until now, they could hardly meet the standard demands, e.g. barrier properties, for product applications.
The new bio-based and bio-degradable material class bioORMOCER® of Fraunhofer ISC, however, is up to par. This new class of materials allows to produce e.g. biodegradable barrier layers which are capable of competing with conventional barrier coating materials. With their good barrier properties against water vapor and oxygen, they are the missing link for ambitious biodegradable barrier films for food, pharmaceutical or cosmetics packaging.
Additionally, bioORMOCER® has the perspective to be biocompatible and resorbable. In physiological environments, they may be the basis for advanced solutions in medical applications due to their good barrier properties or antimicrobial functions. Furthermore, several additional functionalities resulting from the modular concept of (bio)ORMOCER® complete the material performance.
Therefore, bioplastic activated with bioORMOCER® opens a wide range of applications and helps to make sustainable solutions most attractive for future products. In the workshop you will have the occasion to learn more about the wide range of opportunities offered by bioORMOCER® and to discuss trends and future needs of material performances. A guided tour of the Center of Applied Analytics ZAA opens up an interesting backstage view on Fraunhofer ISC's R&D.
After the workshop, Fraunhofer ISC offers an informal networking evening in the historic center of Würzburg.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
