Wie kann man ein Metall hart wie Diamant oder weich wie Knete, spröde wie Glas oder dehnbar wie Kaugummi machen? Welche atomaren Mechanismen sind für bleibende Verformung verantwortlich? Fragen, die wir mit Hilfe europäischer Großforschungsanlagen – sogenannten Synchrotrons – klären. Dabei verwenden wir hochbrillante Strahlung, mit weltweit einzigartigen Eigenschaften.
Dr. Christoph Kirchlechner, Leiter der Gruppe “Nano-/Mikromechanik von Materialien” am Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung wird uns am Donnerstag, 20. Oktober 2016, von 18.00-19.00 Uhr in die Welt der Material- und Ingenieurswissenschaften einführen.
