In der Reihe „Distinguished Du Bois Lecture“ spricht Prof. Fatima El-Tayeb an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU) zum Thema Rassismus in Deutschland. Der Titel ihres Vortrags mit anschließender Publikumsdiskussion lautet ‚German’ and ‚Ungerman’: Racial Crisis as the New Normal in the United Germany.
Fatima El-Tayeb ist eine der führenden Wissenschaftlerinnen im Themenbereich ‚race‘ und Rassifizierung in Deutschland. Sie ist Autorin der wegweisenden Studie European Others (2011), die auf Deutsch unter dem Titel Anders europäisch erschien. Ihre Forschung war und ist zentral für die kritische Auseinandersetzung mit Rassismus und anderen sozialen Hierarchien in Deutschland und den USA. Prof. El-Tayeb ist Professorin für African-American Literature and Culture an der University of California, San Diego.
