Für ihren Debütroman „Fernwärme“ wurde sie 2006 mit dem Bayerischen Kulturförderpreis ausgezeichnet. Ausschnitte aus ihrem bis dahin unveröffentlichten Prosaprojekt „Reise nach Njetowa“ brachten ihr im selben Jahr eine Nominierung für den Bachmannpreis ein. Mittlerweile ist Katja Huber, freischaffende Autorin und Mitarbeiterin beim Bayerischen Rundfunk, bei ihrem fünften Roman „Unterm Nussbaum“ angelangt. Das Buch hat sie am Dienstag, 29. Januar 2019, für eine Lesung an der Universität Bamberg im Gepäck. Die öffentliche Veranstaltung des Lehrstuhls für Neuere deutsche Literaturwissenschaft beginnt um 19 Uhr im Raum 00.25, An der Universität 2.
