Since the high influx of refugees into Germany, one of the questions arising is: How can vocational counselling better adapt to newcomers?
Rapid integration into education, training and work is certainly one of the most important tasks. But what if counsellors and people seeking advice do not speak the same language and know little about each other's education and employment systems?
In the Erasmus+ project CMinaR, six European partner countries, on initiative of the University of Apllied Labour Studies, in three years jointly developed teaching content with which employment-oriented counsellors can be prepared for working with refugees.
The final international conference will take place on 27 August 2019.
The agenda contains some exciting points: The opening speaker will be Rita Süssmuth, former President of the Bundestag and a tireless fighter for social coexistence. The project countries present their contents, which together form the curriculum for a refugee-specific counselling course. Olga Kostoula will talk about the hidden effects of trauma in counselling.
Finally, counselling policy and other stakeholders will discuss how the results could be incorporated into the regular training of employment-oriented counsellors. The Deputy Head of the Skills and Qualifications Unit of the European Commission will also participate in the discussion.
The conference will take place in the centre of political Berlin.
Conference languages will be German and English (with simultaneous interpreting).
