Seit Mitte 2019 sind in deutschen Städten E-Tretroller zugelassen. Internationale Anbieter drängen mit Leihfahrzeugen auf den Markt. Die E-Roller verstellen Gehsteige und Grünanlagen, verursachen Unfälle und verstärken das Verkehrschaos auf Radwegen und Straßen. Oft liegt dies vor allem an der unsachgemäßen Nutzung der neuen Fahrzeuge. Ganz offensichtlich werden sie als Gimmick und Verkehrsmittel gut angenommen, von Touristinnen und Touristen, aber auch von der Stadtbevölkerung.
