European Cancer Registries: Clinical cancer registries record the entire course and treatment of cancer in a standardized way with the long-term goal of significantly improving prevention, early detection, treatment and follow-up of patients at both population and individual levels. The European Cancer Plan 2021 EBCP has stated the same goal for the coming decade and proposed a series of comprehensive measures to achieve it.
This event discuss the questions mentioned above and is part of an event series:
The European Cancer Plan was published by the EU Commission in early 2021. The Flagship Initiatives described therein pursue an ambitious goal: to substantially improve all aspects of cancer, from prevention to quality of life for survivors by 2030.
To reach the desired goals, the Member States need to build on existing programmes, scale them up, harmonise them and leverage their potential to benefit the entire European Cancer landscape. Political support and engagement is a key element to success as well as the will to cross-country collaboration
In this event series, we would like to discuss with politicians and experts from the Commission and from Germany how these goals can be achieved, based on three selected examples: Cancer registry data repositories, Networks of Comprehensive Cancer Centers and Initiatives to generate genomic data for precision oncology.
