Climate, Conflict and other Challenges: Discussing Global Drivers for Migration

Das Deutsche Schifffahrtsmuseum (DSM) / Leibniz-Institut für Maritime Geschichte veranstaltet gemeinsam mit dem Centre for the Study of Global Human Movement der Universität Cambridge am Freitag, den 1. April 2022, 15:00 - 16:30 Uhr eine digitale Podiumsdiskussion zu den historischen und aktuellen Triebkräften für menschliche Bewegungen und Migration.

The event engages with the dynamics of global migration and its implication for land-ocean entanglements and inclusive development. The aim is to discuss different patterns of human movement and migration. These include refugee movements arising from political conflict and crisis, forced migration caused by climate change and environmental challenges, as well as other forms of economic-driven movements.

The speakers are:
Dr. Jenny Mander, Co-Director of the Centre for the Study of Global Human Movement, University of Cambridge
Dr. William O’Reilly, Director of the Centre for History and Economics, University of Cambridge
Dr. Janne Liburd, Head of the Centre for Tourism, Innovation & Culture, University of Southern Denmark
Dr. Nilanjan Ghosh, Director of the Centre for New Economic Diplomacy, Observer Research Foundation, India
Dr. Christian von Soest, Head of Peace and Security Research Program, German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA).

The event will be moderated by Dr. Katharina Bothe, Head of Program “Seafaring & Society”, German Maritime Museum – Leibniz Institute for Maritime History.
