Etwa vier bis fünf Millionen Beschäftigte in Deutschland sind an ihrem Arbeitsplatz gesundheitsgefährdenden Lärmbelastungen ausgesetzt. Bei langjähriger beruflicher Lärmeinwirkung sind starke gesundheitliche Beeinträchtigungen möglich, weshalb Lärmschwerhörigkeit nach wie vor die häufigste anerkannte Berufskrankheit ist. Umso wichtiger ist die arbeitsmedizinische Vorsorge und Prävention von Sicherheits- und Gesundheitsgefährdungen durch Lärm am Arbeitsplatz.
