The 15th "International Conference on Archaeological Prospection" (ICAP 2023) will take place in Kiel, Germany. The Conference is organised by the Institute for Geosciences at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel and supported by the Cluster of Excellence ROOTS. It provides a forum for presenting and discussing latest developments and research in archaeological prospection. It covers the entire spectrum of methodology and technology applied to the detection, localization and investigation of buried cultural heritage, especially near-surface geophysics, airborne remote sensing and digital data analysis.
The Conference will be held between Tuesday, 28 March, and Saturday, 1 April 2023, in the Wissenschaftspark Centre connected to the campus of Kiel University. On Saturday, a scientific excursion is planned to visit the area of the Schlei fjord close to the medieval city of Schleswig. It will include a guided tour at Hedeby (Haithabu), an important viking trading settlement and a visit of the Archaeological Museum Schloss Gottorf with the famous Nydam boat (3rd century AD).
