Challenges for electronic assemblies in automotive applications

#2 session of our series »Electronic Solutions for Challenging Environments« // SPEAKER: Dr. Stefan Wagner

The expert session will provide an insight into the challenges of environmental impact for electronic assemblies in automotive applications. The reliability of power electronic modules and systems depends on various factors, including design, material selection, manufacturing quality, and operating conditions.

Power electronic components are an important basis in the transformation of mobility and energy supply, as they enable the efficient conversion and management of electrical energy, facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources, and support the development of advanced electric and hybrid vehicles. However, these modules also bring reliability challenges with them. Due to their high power density and high switching frequencies, power electronic modules are susceptible to various failure mechanisms such as thermal stress, vibrations, electrical stress, environmental humidity, and material aging.

The reliability of power electronic modules and systems depends on various factors, including design, material selection, manufacturing quality, and operating conditions. To address these challenges, careful design and manufacturing practices, as well as reliable monitoring systems, need to be implemented. Improved reliability of power electronic modules is of great importance to extend the lifespan of electronic systems and minimize downtime. Here, the challenges regarding reliability will be highlighted.

Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
