Plastic pollution from the coast to the deep sea

Public keynote speech at the Planetary Waters – A Challenge Between Abstraction and Empathy conference, Lecture by Prof. Dr. Elda Miramontes, MARUM – Center for Marine Environmental Sciences, University of Bremen

Plastic pollution is an environmental problem that is becoming increasingly prevalent and has already reached the deepest parts of the oceans. Although marine sediments are considered to be one of the main long-term sinks of plastic pollutants, we still know very little about how plastic particles are transported to the ocean and to the seafloor. In this talk, we will explore how ocean currents and sedimentary processes influence the distribution and accumulation of plastics in the deep sea, and their potential implications for marine ecosystems.

Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
