Klimawandel, geopolitische Krisen und gesellschaftliche Polarisierung prägen unsere Gegenwart. Gerade in dieser Situation stellt sich die Frage nach der Hoffnung neu: Wie kann sie Orientierung geben, ohne naiver Optimismus zu sein?
Die französische Philosophin Corine Pelluchon unterscheidet Hoffnung von Optimismus. Sie versteht Hoffnung nicht als psychologische Haltung, sondern als Tugend mit politischer Dimension.
In ihrer ISOE-Lecture zeigt sie, warum Hoffnung die Fähigkeit ist, die Zukunft in der Gegenwart zu erkennen – und wie sie helfen kann, Verzweiflung und Ohnmacht in konstruktives Engagement zu verwandeln. Mit Blick auf aktuelle Krisen wird Pelluchon zudem diskutieren, welche Energie aus Hoffnung entstehen kann und wie sich eine solche transformative Kraft von den destruktiven Kräften des Nationalismus und Populismus unterscheidet.
