In this masterclass Sascha O. Becker (University of Warwick and RFBerlin) builds on influential studies published in leading journals, participants will examine key episodes of forced migration, including post–World War II population transfers and, in particular, the persecution and escape of intellectuals under the fascist regimes of the twentieth century, and consider how displacement affected labor market outcomes and educational outcomes. A particular focus will be on the role of networks in shaping migration choices and economic outcomes.
