Human-machine interaction: Living and working in the age of AI

How do we feel when AI makes important decisions, when it acts as a manager, a public servant, or even a medical doctor? And do people from different social backgrounds and cultures feel the same way?

Artificial intelligence no longer belongs to science fiction. It has become part of everyday life: supporting our work, offering emotional companionship, and increasingly shaping decisions in domains that matter. As AI systems grow more capable and autonomous, they are beginning to step into roles traditionally held by humans, raising new questions about trust, legitimacy, and acceptance. In this talk, psychologist Dr. Mengchen Dong presents recent research on how people evaluate and interact with AI in high-stakes roles, and how these responses vary across individuals, social groups, and cultures.

Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
