The English-language training course offered by the German Society for Materials Science provides theoretical and practical knowledge of modern elemental analysis. It focuses on methods for identifying compositional deviations, trace elements, and contaminants in primary and secondary materials. Such analyses are relevant for assessing material quality, recyclability, and the safety of material cycles.
The program provides an overview of ICP-MS and ICP-OES, atomic and molecular absorption spectrometry, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, and glow discharge optical emission spectroscopy. Detailed sessions cover solid sample analysis using electrothermal vaporization coupled with ICP-OES and laser ablation coupled with ICP-MS. The detection of contaminants such as PFAS using high-resolution continuum source graphite furnace molecular absorption spectrometry is also addressed. Further topics include method selection, spatially resolved analysis, detection limits, sample throughput, robustness, and analytical costs.
The second day is dedicated to laboratory exercises using ETV/ICP-OES, LA/ICP-MS, and HR-CS-GFMAS. Participants conduct measurements and evaluate the performance, limitations, and application conditions of the methods using practical analytical tasks.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
