Unser Planet Erde steckt voller Wärme. 30 % dieser Wärme ist Urzeitwärme aus der Entstehungszeit der Erde vor etwa 4,6 Milliarden Jahren und 70 % ist Neuzeitwärme, die in der Erdkruste ständig neu gebildet wird und langsam nach außen strömt. Geothermie ist daher eine erneuerbare Energie, die zum Heizen und Kühlen genutzt werden kann. Am Beispiel der Geothermie-Forschungsbohrung DemoCELL bei Celle wird erläutert, wie reich an Erdwärme Niedersachsen ist.
