Der Waschbär (Procyon lotor) kommt ursprünglich aus Nordamerika. Ausgesetzt oder aus Gehegen entkommen, breitet er sich seit Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts als Neozoon auch in Europa und Japan aus. Das nachtaktive Raubtier lebt bevorzugt in gewässerreichen Laub- und Mischwäldern. Dank seiner Anpassungsfähigkeit fühlt er sich zunehmend in urbanen Gebieten wohl.

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
