Im Umfeld von Olympia sowie zwischen Olympia und der heutigen Küste wurden zahlreiche Bohrungen zur Erfassung der Sedimentabfolgen durchgeführt. Das Photo zeigt eine Bohrlokalität auf der westlichen Kladeosterrasse, nur wenige hundert Meter westlich des Zeustempels. Im Hintergrund links ist der Hausberg Olympias, der Kronos-Hügel, zu erkennen.
