Eisbedeckung der Arktis seit 1972 (September-Minimum) - Monatsmittelwerte von 1972 bis 2011 und Prognose für September 2012. Die grüne Kurve zeigt eine gleichmäßige Abnahme der Eisbedeckung. Genauer beschrieben wird die derzeitige Entwicklung aber durch die rote Kurve, welche seit 2005 eine beschleunigte Abnahme der Eisbedeckung zeigt.
