Dr. Sandra Niemeyer Kommunikation und Marketing
Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB)

English-language conference fosters discussion, exchange and innovation in research and development in the areas of data integration and data management for the life sciences // Register by 28 October 2018 to benefit from the reduced rate

HANNOVER, 15 October 2018 – The programme of the 13th International Conference on Data Integration in the Life Sciences 2018 (DILS2018), which will take place on 20 and 21 November 2018 at the Leibnizhaus in Hannover, Germany, is online. Participants can still register at the reduced Early Bird rate until 28 October 2018.
The English-language conference fosters discussion, exchange and innovation in research and development in the areas of data integration and data management for the life sciences. Researchers, experts and students from the fields of computer science, engineering, medicine and biology are invited to share their knowledge and experience on the latest technological developments in the intersection of computer science, big data and life sciences. Challenges and technical solutions for the transformation big data into knowledge in order to gain realizable insights will also be discussed.

    Conference programme is online

Catia Pesquita from the University of Lisbon (Portugal) will give the keynote speech "Matching Biomedical Ontologies for Semantic Data Integration" on 20 November 2018. In her lecture, she will deal with the recent advances in matching biomedical ontologies, how these are being put into practice to support biomedical data integration and analysis, and chart future directions to address the challenges that will be faced by the semantic data integration community. Alfred Pühler from the University of Bielefeld will present in his keynote speech "The de.NBI network – a Bioinformatics Infrastructure in Germany for Handling Big Data in Life Sciences" on 21 November 2018 the network de.NBI – the "German Network for Bioinformatics Infrastructure" – which bundles and coordinates tools and resources in the field of bioinformatics and offers various services and training courses.

The DILS2018 programme also offers sessions on Big Biomedical Data Integration and Management, Data Exploration in the Life Sciences, Biomedical Data Analytics and Big Biomedical Applications.

    Pre- and Postconference framing DILS2018

Moreover, the TIB will hold a pre-conference on 19 November 2018 on "Data Integration in the Life Sciences and Semantic Technologies" and a post-conference on "Open Research Knowledge Graph" on 22 November 2018.

The conference is hosted by TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology (TIB in Hannover), L3S Research Center Leibniz Universität Hannover (L3S in Hannover), ZB MED – Information Centre for Life Sciences (ZB MED in Cologne/Bonn) and MHH – Hannover Medical School (MHH in Hannover).

    About TIB

Acting in the capacity of the German national library of technology, as well as architecture, chemistry, computer science, mathematics and physics, the TIB –Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology and University Library provides academia, research, industry and business with literature and information in printed and electronic form.

TIB is continuously expanding its role as a German information centre for the digitisation of science and technology. The library provides scientific content, digital services and methodological skills to specialist and research communities at www.tib.eu, supporting the different stages of scientific work. The library’s search and order portal offers users access to more than 95 million technical and scientific datasets indexed by TIB. The library’s outstanding quality-assured collections also include knowledge objects such as audiovisual media, 3D models and research data. Thanks to specially developed search technologies, TIB’s AV-Portal (https://av.tib.eu/) can be used to search for specific content from scientific videos from the fields of science and technology. As a research library, TIB conducts applied research and development in order to generate new services and optimise existing ones. The key areas of research are in the fields of data science, non-textual material, Open Science and visual analytics.

TIB is a public-law foundation of the Federal State of Lower Saxony. The library is a member of the Leibniz Association.

    Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
    Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

    Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

    Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

    Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
