Applications now open for human rights degree programme at Leuphana

Henning Zuehlsdorff Pressestelle
Leuphana Universität Lüneburg

The part-time study programme Governance and Human Rights at the Professional School of Leuphana University Lüneburg deals with the principles of responsible governance. The qualification aims to promote the safeguarding and protection of human rights. The English-language programme is internationally oriented. Students from all over the world can use it to prepare for a career in international or non-governmental organisations as well as in development aid. Prospective students have until 31 May to apply for this sought-after programme, which starts in September.

Responsible government action, known in academia as governance, is at the centre of the course. Particular emphasis is placed on the practical application of the knowledge taught. Students therefore begin working on their own project on the topic of governance or human rights early on in the programme. Towards the end of their studies, they organise their own conference on a topic of their choice. The current year has opted for "Water and Human Rights".

The four-semester study programme is organised as a distance learning course: The lectures and seminars take place mainly as e-learning units. The attendance phases are bundled into two one-week blocks. This type of study organisation enables international students to study while working and virtually independent of location. The Master's programme is headed by Professor Till Patrik Holterhus, an expert in international public law, in particular constitutional and administrative law.

Further information on the degree programme can be found at http://www.leuphana.de/gahr. Prospective students have the opportunity to arrange a personal consultation with programme coordinator Eva Morgenroth (eva.morgenroth@leuphana.de, phone 04131.677-7921). They can also find out more about the Master's degree programme during a digital info day on 26 April 2024.
