TU9 Informs About Career Opportunities in German Science at GAIN25 in Boston

    TU9, the Alliance of leading Technical Universities in Germany, will be represented by Co-Presidents, Prof. Angela Ittel and Prof. Peter Middendorf, and many participating associates at several events at GAIN25 in Boston. In workshops, discussion panels and at the Talent Fair, TU9 University managers and experts will provide advice on career paths and funding opportunities at TU9 Universities. The topics range from possibilities of interdisciplinary research, female career advancement, appointment procedures to the importance of good management and leadership.

    On Saturday, August 30, 2025, 2.00–3.15 p.m., the TU9 Roundtable “Innovation & Transfer: Where Science Meets Industry” takes place aiming to discuss creative career opportunities in order to demonstrate new paths opening up for returning researchers in the interaction between universities, non-university research institutions and industry. TU9 Managing Director Dr. Stephanie Christmann-Budian will talk about opportunities and experiences with Prof. Fatma Deniz (Vice President for Digitalization and Sustainability, TU Berlin), Prof. Jan Hesthaven (President, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology), Prof. Peter Middendorf (Rector, University of Stuttgart and TU9 Co-President), Dr. Georg Schütte (CEO VolkswagenStiftung) as well as the two founders Dr. Mridul Agrawal (iuvando) and Christian Reimer, Ph.D. (HyperLight).

    The Workshop “Professorship Appointment Procedures: Dos and Dont‘s” (Sunday, August 31, 2025, 11.15 a.m.–12.30 p.m.) will provide insight into the requirements and process of appointment procedures. In addition to presenting the theoretical framework, Prof. Volker Epping (President, Leibniz University Hannover), Prof. Frauke Melchior (Rector, Heidelberg University), Prof. Susanne Menzel-Riedl (President, Osnabrück University), and Prof. Ursula Staudinger (Rector, TU Dresden) will cover influential factors like diversity, internationality, or non-linear career paths, in conversation with Dr. Inken Dose, Science Manager and TU9 Deputy Head.

    Eight TU9 Universities will be represented at the Talent Fair: TU Berlin (booth no. 34), TU Braunschweig (no. 60), TU Darmstadt (no. 19 + 20), TU Dresden (no. 21), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (no. 42), Leibniz University Hannover (no. 58), TUM (no. 37), and University of Stuttgart (no. 41).
