EventEURO Friction, Wear and Wear Protection
Conservation of energy and resources is one of the biggest challenges for society and industry. Modern tribology is one of the main cornerstones of reducing carbon emissions. However, friction and wear protection lacks of a systematic approach based on elemental mechanisms from materials science, physics and chemistry; materials and technologies needed in the near future may not be a simple extension of one which is in our hand now.
Following the successful 2008 symposium in Aachen the 2011 conference belongs to a series of conferences held once every three years under the auspices of the technical committee "Materials aspects of tribology and machining" of the German Materials Society, DGM. The scope of the symposium covers all classes of materials, machining, production and lubrication technologies and targets at practitioners from industry as well as engineers and scientists. The conference will take place in Karlsruhe, close to such beautiful landscapes as the Black Forest and the French Alsace. Karlsruhe is easily accessible via Frankfurt International Airport, one of Europe‘s major international airports, which is just one hour away by direct train. Conference Topics: A: Wear Resistant Non-Ferrous Materials B: Wear Resistant Fe-Based Materials C: Tribology D: Thin Coatings E: Modelling F: Computer Simulation G: Ceramics H: Polymeres and PMCs I: Extreme Environments K: Lab. Tests Endurance L: Biomaterials For detailed information visit the conference webpage http://www.dgm.de/friction_wear2011 Information on participating / attending:
